Airbnb rentals on the increase in Iceland

Apartments for rent on rental site Airbnb have increased by 124 % in Iceland in the space of one year.Right now, 3.903 flats are advertised on Airnbn compared to just over 1.700 last year. In the last three months, the increase has been just over 10%.

These figures appeared on travel website Túristi. Rooms at Iceland's largest hotel chains, Íslandshótel, Icelandair hotels and Kea hotels offer 2.829 rooms combined which means that there are more rooms or apartments available on Airbnb. 

In the last 12 months Airbnb guests increased by 156% but at the same time Icelanders on the rental market increased in the last 12 months by 90%.
