Guðmundur Spartakus Ómarsson, an Icelandic national reportedly missing since November 2013, is thought to be a “powerful drug baron working with traffickers in Brazil and Paraguay”.

So reports Paraguayan media outfit ABC Color (link in Spanish).

Ómarsson is suspected of being one of the leaders of a wide network of Brazilian, Icelandic and Paraguayan traffickers smuggling ecstasy from Europe to South America and cocaine in the other direction.

According to anonymous Brazilian anti-drug sources, Ómarsson has obtained false identity papers in Paraguay and is posing as a German estate agent selling property in Brazil and Paraguay.

Paraguayan authorities have officially not seen Ómarsson since November 2013, while unconfirmed reports from Iceland suggest his parents had been in touch with him just before Christmas 2015.
