Jailed Icelandic bankers complain about Michael Moore filming them in prison
The three bankers in jail for the matter christened the Al-Thani case have complained to the ombudsman of the Icelandic Government about head of prison matters, Páll Winkel, who say that US filmmaker Michael Moore was allowed to spend at day at the Kvíabryggja prison with the specific purpose of filming them.
Government ombudsman Tryggvi Gunnarsson has now written to Winkel requesting an explanation on whether Moore received permission within the prison walls and whether this complies with laws regarding privacy of prisoners.
The three prisoners, Magnúsar Guðmundsson, Ólafur Ólafsson and Sigurður Einarsson also complain that Winkel said to Morgunblaðið last year that certain prisoners had made demands to drink wine with meals at the prison.
Moore was in Iceland filming the documentary Where to Invade Next, a travelogue where he experiences alternative methods of dealing with social and economic ills experienced in the United States.
