Iceland lands two European martial arts titles
Two Icelanders won European gold at the 2015 IMMAF European Open Championships of Amateur Mixed Martial Arts this weekend.
Sunna Rannveig Davíðsdóttir took the European title in the women’s flyweight class, beating Sweden’s Anja Saxmark, while Bjarki Þór Pálsson beat Bulgaria’s Dorian Dermendzhiev to take gold in the men’s welter weight.
The two competitors vanquished by the Icelanders are the current world champions in their respective classes.
130 competitors from thirty countries took part in the championship, held on 19-22 November in Birmingham, UK.
