It has emerged that Caroline, wife of Icelandic national Finnbogi Rútur Finnbogason, was one of those shot during Friday night’s terrorist attacks in Paris.

According to Icelandic news website Hringbraut (link in Icelandic), Finnbogason – a Master’s student in philosophy and international politics – was at home when a call came through from his wife saying that she had been shot while out a café.

Finnbogason was at the scene within minutes, but only got to see his wife Caroline at hospital.

Caroline was taken into surgery on Saturday afternoon and is expected to make a full recovery. She had received a bullet in the back.

Twelve people died at the scene where she was shot.
