Now that November is around the corner and days are rapidly getting shorter, citizens of Reykjavik will be receiving a letter from the City Council and the Reykjavik Metropolitan Police to remind them of curfew laws for children which differ between summer and winter.

The aim of the letter is to prevent children being outside alone after dark.

The laws are as follows:

From September 1st to May 1st children aged 12 and younger can stay out until 8 pm.

Children aged 13- 16 can stay out until 10 pm.

The only exceptions to this rule is when children are accompanied by adults or on their way home from a recognized school or sports related occasion.
