Lunar Eclipse Photo Contest: Win a fantastic JS Watch Company watch!
As reported by Iceland Monitor this morning, Sun, Moon and Earth will be aligning in the early hours of Monday morning, generating a spectacular blood-red lunar eclipse .
Iceland Monitor has decided to take the opportunity to organise a photo competition to find the best shot of the lunar eclipse in Iceland.
The prize
The winner will receive a fantastic ARC-TIC Iceland IMT (Iceland Mean Time) Extreme sport watch (example pictured below), courtesy of JS Watch Company Reykjavik.
Made by Gilbert Ó. Guðjónsson, ARC-TIC Iceland IMT Extreme sports watches are a unique Icelandic design focused on the active lifestyle preferred by today’s style conscious athlete.
Guðjónsson is a master watchmaker at JS Watch Company Reykjavik and was nominated Icelandic Craftsman of the Year in 2009. In February 2014, JS Watch Company Reykjavik won the prestigious ‘Shop of the Year’ award.
Practical details
Photos of the lunar eclipse must be set in a recognisably Icelandic context (i.e. photos from other parts of the world will not be accepted). The stunning photo below by Ómar Óskarsson is a perfect example of the type of thing we are after.
Send your photos – taken anywhere in Iceland – with your name and contact details by 9am on Tuesday 29 September. Please send your photographs to icelandmonitor@mbl.is with ‘Lunar Eclipse Photo Contest’ in the subject title.
Morgunblaðið /mbl.is photographers and journalists will select a winner from a short list. All photographs making the short list will be published on Iceland Monitor .
Iceland Monitor reserves the right to cancel the contest at short notice if weather conditions on the night make all photography of the lunar eclipse impossible.
