A foreign tourist died yesterday evening at Iceland’s famous Jökulsárlón glacier lagoon after being run over by an amphibian boat.

The victim, said to be a lady in her fifties, was visiting the popular tourist spot with her family when the incident occurred.

She was run over by an amphibian boat outside the lagoon’s service centre around 5pm yesterday afternoon. Jökulsárlón is a very popular tourist site in Iceland and there were witnesses to the incident. The victim is said to have been killed instantly.

There are as yet no details of the victim’s name or nationality. South Iceland Police are investigating the case.
