Reykjavik parking fees to double

Fines for parking offences in Reykjavik are to double from 1 August.

Reykjavik City Council car-parking authorities have raised the fines applicable to infringements of Icelandic traffic legislation.

The fine for parking in a disabled parking space without a permit will double from ISK 10,000 to ISK 20,000 (approx. €135).

The new fine for all other types of parking offences will be ISK 10,000 (approx. €68).

Fines will be reduced by ISK 1,100 if paid at a bank or online within three working days of the offence, but increased by 50% if not paid within two weeks and by 100% if not paid withing 28 days.
