Iceland’s biggest ever lottery win
One lucky winner has scooped the biggest ‘Viking Lotto’ jackpot ever to have been won in Iceland.
Just one punter matched all winning numbers in yesterday’s draw and therefore wins the full tax-free jackpot of ISK 161,880,000 (approx. €1.1 million). The winner will be contacted later today and may not yet know that they are an overnight millionaire.
“Some 650 Icelanders won prizes [yesterday],” says Stefán Konráðsson, CEO of Íslensk getspá, the company responsible for the Viking Lotto in Iceland. “But this is by far the biggest win we have ever seen in Iceland.”
Viking Lotto was set up in 1993 and is a joint lottery covering six countries: Denmark, Estonia, Finland, Iceland Norway and Sweden.
