Three generations of Icelandic football
All three of Eiður Smári Guðjohnsen’s sons are following in their father’s footsteps into the world of professional football.
Guðjohnsen currently plays for Bolton Wanderers in the English Football League Championship and has played for the likes of Chelsea, Barcelona and AEK Athens, as well as earning 69 caps for his country.
Guðjohnsen eldest son, Sveinn Aron, 17, is currently in talks with Groningen in the Netherlands after a trial period playing with the team.
The second brother, Andi Lúkas, 13, is reportedly on his way to RCD Espanyol, in Spain’s La Liga. The team is based in Barcelona, where the Guðjohnsen family lives.
Guðjohnsen’s youngest, Daníel Tristan, 9, has signed a deal with Barcelona.
There is clearly something in the genes – Guðjohnsen’s father, Arnór, was also a renowned professional footballer, playing most famously for Iceland and Belgian club Anderlecht.
