Iceland borderline for ESC qualification?

The tension and excitement is rising here in Iceland as the country prepares for its big moment in the second semi-final of the 2015 Eurovision Song Contest this evening.
The ten highest-scoring entries this evening will qualify to the Grand Final on Saturday evening and Iceland’s hopes rest on the young shoulders of María Ólafsdóttir, who will be performing Unbroken twelfth in the running order.
All seventeen entries were performed last night in the ‘jury final’, where members of national professional juries in the competing and voting countries get their say. Their vote counts for 50% of the final result.
Iceland is currently at the bottom end of the Top 10, according to the informal voting conducted by members of the sizeable press corps covering the event. Icelandic qualification is expected, but there is little room for error.
Some commentators have expressed disappointment at the staging and vocal performance of the Icelandic entry at yesterday evening’s jury final. This may explain Iceland’s current 9th position on the press voting board.
Iceland Monitor has its fingers well and truly crossed for María tonight. Áfram Ísland!
