Fatal car accident in south Iceland

A car carrying six passengers skidded off the road on Biskupstungnabraut, the road between Gullfoss and Selfoss last night. One passenger was thrown out of the car and landed underneath it. He was very seriously injured and died in hospital. 

The man was European, living in Iceland but police are not disclosing any further information until the consulate has been notified. One other passenger was seriously injured but is in stable condition and the remaining four received minor injuries. 

The Biskupstungnabraut highway no.35 was extremely icy last night according to police.
