Great weekend for skiing

A great number of people visited Akureyri this weekend to go skiing. This photo was taken this morning. Photo/Hlíðarfjall

Between 2,500 and 3,000 people are skiing in Hlíðarfjall, Akureyri, north Iceland today and according to manager Guðmundur Karl Jónsson the weather has been great and skiing conditions excellent.

Most skiing areas are open today and conditions are good. However, Bláfjöll and Skálafell, the skiing areas near Reykjavík are both closed today due to weather.
