It's still six weeks until Easter but shops around the country are already selling Easter eggs. Confectioners Nói Síríus exported ten thousand Easter eggs last year and this year they're expecting a similar figure. The Icelandic eggs are mostly sold to Scandinavia where they are popular with Icelanders living there. Freyja, another confectionary company sells chocolate eggs to the Faroe Islands, where they enjoy great popularity.
Icelandic Easter eggs are chocolate eggs filled with sweets and usually have a little yellow chick on top. They come in a variety of sizes from size 1 which is the smallest to a size ten.
The most popular sizes sold abroad are size 4 and size 5.
