A black spot on a white landscape

The Iceland met office has released an interesting satellite image taken by the MODIS satellite yesterday. It shows the Holuhran lava field clearly, as the sole dark spot on an otherwise snow-covered country.
The lava field is now over 83 square kilometres in size.
