The Polish love Icelandic soccer

The victory for Iceland against the Netherlands last night in the Euro 2016 qualifications was not only celebrated in Icelandic homes, but also in Polish ones. The Icelandic national team has an unusually large group of Polish fans- over 3000 people. Fan club Piłkarska Islandia was founded in August 2013 by Piotr Giedyk who is a great Iceland enthusiast and says that Icelandic soccer is "different and exotic".

"You have interesting sports areas," he continues. " And we admire your training system. And the good progress of the national team has made us curious."

Polish fans will be organising a trip to see Iceland meet the Czech Republic on November 16th.
