Reynisfjara is one of the most popular tourist destination in Iceland. However, it is not without dangers, and quite a few fatal accidents have happened there when people venture into the sea. mbl.is/Eggert Jóhannesson

The waves in Reynisfjara Black Beach will reach up to 3.7 meters today. Tomorrow they will be even higher, or up to 4.7 meters, which is quite unusual. This is reported on the weather website Blika.

"These are unusually high waves for the summertime. The reason for this is a deep depression that will also include rain and strong winds in the Southern and the Western part of Iceland."

Tourists need to be careful

It is reported on Blika that the center of the depression will be mostly under 980 hPa, which is practically unheard of during summer. Then the forecast is a lot of rain, or similar as today.

"Tourists need to be very careful if they are visiting Reynisfjara Black Beach, but it is likely that people will not stop as long toady as they would normally do. The strong winds and the pouring rain will take care of that.

People who are travelling in a camper or a caravan need to pay attention to the wind forecast, especially if they plan to drive near Hafnarfjall or in the vicinity of Kjalarnes, which is on the way from Reykjavík to Borgarnes."
