Gordon Ramsey fishing in Iceland
The celebrity chef and TV personality Gordon Ramsay has visited the highway restaurant Þrastarlundur twice recently, both to enjoy a meal and to get coffee, says Dagný Sif Jónsdóttir, the owner of Þrastarlundur. She knew that he was on his way because she knows the people renting out the fishing licences in Sogið, where Ramsay is currently fishing.
Different from the persona on Hell's Kitchen
“I’ve chatted a bit with him, and he is very nice and is in no way stand-offish but rather seems to enjoy talking to people.
Ramsey became an instant TV sensation when his show, Hell’s Kitchen started and his trademark was a huge temper and not mincing his words when it came to criticizing the contestants on the show.
“He is not at all like he is on the show. It looks like that is just a TV character he has created.”
An honor to be around him
Jónsdóttir says that Ramsay was very appreciative of the service he got in Þrastarlundur. “It was such an honor to get to meet him and serve him food.”
When Ramsay and his crew come to Þrastarlundur they get a quiet area, but Jónsdóttir says that he clearly is a people’s person.
She hopes to see him again before he returns home from his fishing trip, if only to say goodbye.
