A landslide fell in the Westfjords
The road between Ísafjörður and Hnífsdalur has been opened after a landslide fell earlier this morning. mbl.is/Sigurður Bogi
A landslide fell on the road between Ísafjörður and Hnífsdalur in the Westfjords this morning. The road was closed as a result but according to a tweet from The Icelandic Road and Coastal Administration the road has already been opened.
The mountains in the Westfjords are both high and steep and landslides and avalanches are common in the area.
