Orange weather alerts remain in effect all morning for all but the westernmost part of Iceland, according to vedur.is. The severe weather that affected the southwestern part of the country overnight has moved eastward with severe gale and blizzard conditions. Traveling is not advised this morning in those parts of the country.

Tonight, yellow weather alerts will go into effect in the western part of the country. A southwestern gale and snow showers are expected, with an increasing risk of lightning. Conditions for travel will be poor. In the capital area, the yellow alert will remain in effect until 3 pm tomorrow, in South Iceland and in the Faxaflói bay area until 6 pm tomorrow, and  in the Breiðafjörður bay area until 6 am tomorrow.

Numerous roads outside the capital area remain closed or impassable. For road conditions, go to road.is.
