Sightseeing Flight Over Reykjavík With Play: Video
The new Icelandic airline Play invited reporters on a sightseeing flight over the capital area yesterday, on board one of its three aircraft Wednesday, mbl.is reports. The aircraft, an Airbus A321 Neo, nearly three years old, took off from Reykjavík Airport.
Among the passengers was Play CEO Birgir Jónsson, who in the video above states he is delighted about the reception the airline has received, both from passengers and from investors. A recent stock offering, held by Play, was very successful.
Birgir notes that following a long process of getting the airline flying, focus can at last be put on projects related to its general operation. Markets are opening up, and the timing is perfect, he states.
In the video, you can see the interior of the aircraft and take a look at the comfortable uniforms worn by the flight attendants. It may surprise you that they’re wearing sneakers. The flight attendants interviewed state they’re happy to by flying again and pleased with their uniforms, especially the sneakers, which keep them steady.
Captain Halldór Guðfinnsson describes the aircraft as very quiet and fuel efficient. “It’s like a new toy,” he admits. “It treats the crew and passengers well.”
