When Morgunblaðið photographer Jónas Erlendsson visited Víkurfjara beach, South Iceland, yesterday, he encountered a group of young riders, participating in a riding lesson offered by the equestrian society Sindri and Vík Horse Adventure.

Víkurfjara beach is located near the village Vík í Mýrdal and just east of Reynisfjara beach, which is famous for its beauty and dangerous sneaker waves.

The riding lessons are specifically designed for children born in 2015 and earlier. The weather was ideal yesterday and the view of Reynisdrangar sea stacks, which you see in the background, couldn’t have been better.

Some of the young riders were brave enough to hold the reins themselves, while the horses of others were led by experienced riders.
