Fire, Snow and Lava Flow: Video

Vala Hafstað

The eruption on the Reykjanes peninsula, Southwest Iceland, which began March 19, continues to provide fascinating material for photographers. Ólafur Þórisson captured this colorful video by flying a drone over the craters, mbl.is reports.

In the background, the surrounding snow-covered mountains provide a stark contrast to the black fire-spewing craters. On top of the nearby mountain, you can spot people, watching the spectacle from a distance, as well as lines of them, hiking along the trail. Compared to the fiery mountain, they are but tiny dots.

Watch the video and witness the unbelivable patterns of color, formed by the lava flow.
