Road to Þórsmörk Impassable
The road to Þórsmörk (249/F249) - a popular tourist destination in the southern Icelandic highlands - is impassable, due to swelling rivers, the Icelandic Road Administration has just announced.
The condition of the road will be reassessed tomorrow.
Heavy rain in South Iceland in recent days has caused rivers to swell. Unbridged rivers on the way to Þórsmörk and Básar have swelled substantially. Yesterday, they were said to be passable for large buses and greatly modified 4x4s only, but now, they are completely impassable.
