Today, March 11th travellers can expect a storm and very powerful gusts of wind in South and South West Iceland reports the Iceland Met Office and Safe Travel.is. People are urged to adjust travel plans until Tuesday at 4 pm. 

The Road 1 between Hvolsvöllur and Vík and between Kirkjubæjarklaustur and Höfn will most likely close today from middle of day until lunch time of Tuesday due to storm and violent wind gusts.

People should also be aware that there are hazardous waves expected at Reynisfjara beach until Tuesday 12th March. Travellers should use extra caution and stay WELL back from the water and never let children unattended.
