Sharp earthquake felt in Reykjavik last night
At around three am a sharp earthquake was felt in Reykjavik with many locals waking up and feeling their homes trembling. Around 25 aftershocks folowed of a smaller scale. The larger earthquake was of a magnitude of 4.4.
The earthquake originated in Hellisheiði south of Reykjavik. According to the Iceland Met Office this is not unusual as the area is an active earthquake zone on where the continental plates meet known as the Mid Atlantic rift.
