These photographs of Fagraskógarfjall mountain were captured yesterday by  photographer Mihails Ignats and they show how the whole side of the mountain collapsed, leaving what looks like an open wound.

The river has found a new channel and is now flowing from the landslide into the Tálma river which then returns to join the Hítá river.

According to satellite photographs the landslide measures 1.8 square kilometres.
