Yellow weather warning for South and South East Iceland
After a couple of calm weeks, the stormy weather returns with strong winds expected in Öræfi, Mýrdalur and Eyjafjöll today. A yellow weather warning has been issued by the Iceland Met Office.
The wind is accompanied by rain in the lowlands and snow towards the mountains.

An earthquake of the magnitude 3.0 was detected North West of Grindavík at 10:24 today.
Iceberg visible from coast of Iceland
The enormous iceberg sailing into Húnaflói bay became visible from the coast yesterday, from the Litla Ávík weather station in Strandir. The iceberg may reach the shore at Hornstrandir in the West Fjords, predicts the Iceland Met Office.

"There are no signs of any volcanic unrest as yet," said Bryndís Ýr Gísladóttir, natural hazard expert at the Iceland Met Office to today's Morgunblaðið.

Largest earthquake since eruption detected in Bárðarbunga
An earthquake swarm is currently occuring in the Northern part of Bárðarbunga beginning with a quake of the magnitude of 4.1 at 13.14 at noon. Several quakes followed suit and then a larger one occurred at 15.05 at a magnitude of 4.9.

The pack ice that is reaching the West Fjords is bringing with it the danger of polar bears. TF-SYN, the National Coastguard helicopter has been dispatched to the area to look for possible polar bears who can of course be extremely dangerous.
