Safe Travel, a website dedicated to the safety of tourists in Iceland has warned people of walking out onto the ice sheet on the Jökulsárlón glacial lagoon, one of Iceland's most popular tourist spots.

The post is as follows:

"Yesterday the park ranger in Vatnajökull National Park informed us that people were walking out onto the lagoon's ice sheet. This is VERY unsafe as the ice is very thin and not able to support a lot of weight. If the ice breaks you will fall into very cold water and rescue is difficult due to the thinness of the ice. Use caution and DON'T walk on the ice or ice bergs ever!"
