Awful weather in most parts of Iceland - and more to come

A storm rages in many parts of the country with heavy rain or snow and many roads are closed. The weather should improve at noon but will worsen again in the late afternoon.
There is an orange weather alert for the Westfjords and Northwest Iceland and a yellow alert for Northeast Iceland, East Iceland, East Fjords and Reykjavik. Several areas of low depression will be hitting the country over the next few days.
Roads (and pavements) are extremely icy. Communications throughout much of Iceland are disrupted including various bus routes and domestic flights. People are urged to clear drains to prevent flooding and to secure loose objects.
The following roads are closed: Hellisheiði, Þrengsli, Mosfellsheiði Lyngdalsheiði, Holtavörðuheiði, Öxnadalsheiði and Fróðárheiði.
