Yellow weather alert for capital area and North Iceland

 A yellow weather alert has been issued by the Iceland Met Office for Reykjavik, South Iceland, Faxaflói bay, Breiðafjörður bay, The West Fjords, Strandir, North Iceland, North West Iceland and North East Iceland. 

A sharp south westerly wind is blowing with snow showers and temperatures have plunged. Storms are expected intermittently with bad visibility and roads could become impassable especially at high altitudes. Mosfellsheiði and Lyngdalsheiði are currently impassable but snow ploughs have been dispatched.
