Tour operators have been working steadily on increasing tourist flow to Iceland during Christmas says managing director of Icelandair Hotels, Magnea Hjálmarsdóttir speaking to Morgunblaðið.
She adds that this work has been paying off and that they're seeing a steady increase in bookings. "It's very important that Christmas in Iceland isn't popular just for one year. Hopefully it will become a popular season to come. " She adds that Iceland is particularly popular at Christmas for young people who like to travel during these holidays, and that Americans are the largest customer group. "Many look for a secure place to holiday where there's a white christmas. "
Departures from Iceland by foreign passengers at Christmas has almost tripled in the last five years.
