The government of the local municipality which Seljalandsfoss waterfall is in has decided to put on parking fees at the parking lot by the waterfall.

Seljarlandsfoss is located by the nr.1 ring road in Iceland‘s south coast. It is tall, beautiful and it‘s possible to go behind the waterfall. It‘s no surprise that it‘s one of the most popular sights to see along the south coast of Iceland.

According the head of the local government, Ísólfur Gylfi Pálmason, the price still hasn‘t been decided, though it will likely be 500-700 ISK. They will start charging the parking fee sometime in the next month.

The income of the parking lot will go to upholding walking paths in the area, the parking lots themselves, toilet facilities and perhaps to build a service centre in due time.
