A white-winged scoter is a rare type of sea duck and the largest species of scoter. It is characterised by its bulky shape and large bil.

One of that species has made its way to Iceland over the last 8-9 years, attracting a number of bird watchers from all over the world, according to Guðmundur Falk, photographer and bird enthusiast. He himself has assisted groups from Ireland, England, Germany, and Spain, that came to Iceland with the main purpose to see the duck.

He wonders just how much money this one duck has earned for Iceland, in terms of services the bird watchers have bought on their visits.
