New, bigger and broader staircase is being built between the upper and the lower view platform by Gullfoss, Iceland’s most renowned waterfall. The old wooden staircase has served it's purpose over 25 years, now both old and narrow.

The new staircase will be quite different and hopefully an improvement, as the old one tends to get slippery in icy winter weathers.

The picture depicts the new staircase in the making. A specialist from The Environment Agency of Iceland has said the structure will be far less prominent in the landscape when it’s ready. Railings have yet to be put in place, as well as benches. The evidence of the construction work visible on the ground will be repaired.
