Iceland tour operators step up contingency plans due to possible Katla eruption
Tour operators in Icelaand have been urged by Icelandic authorities to step up their contingency plans in the event of an eruption of the Katla volcano which scientists now believe likely.
Chief of Police in South Iceland, Kjartan Þorkelsson says that an emphasis is being laid on more extensive operations such as closing off popular tourist routes so that people will not be located in areas with a shorter reaction period than others.
