Katla volcano: Eruption alert level cancelled
The National Commissioner of the Icelandic Police and the District Commissioner of Police in South Iceland have cancelled the Civil Protection Uncertainty level due to a possible eruption in the Katla caldera underneath the Mýrdalsjökull glacier.
After numerous earthquakes occuring in the time period between September 28th and October 2nd the seismic activity has now considerably reduced.
Seismic activity in Mýrdalsjökull is however the highest its been for years this autumn and experts are still keeping a close eye on the volcano.
