WARNING: Icy conditions today

Drivers and pedestrians are warned of treacherous icy conditions all over Iceland today as rising temperatures cause melting of solid ice.

Iceland will be under the effect of a strong south-easterly wind today, possibly hitting storm force in south-western parts in the afternoon. With it comes rain – heavy rain in South Iceland.

Temperatures are forecast to rise above freezing almost all over the country. This will cause the ice and snow already on the ground to partially melt and bring about extremely slippery conditions.
