Snow today, cold tomorrow
Most parts of the country should see snowfall today, confirming initial predictions of a white Christmas in Iceland.
Christmas Eve will begin to see temperatures fall across the country as the Christmas cold snap kicks in. Further snowfall is expected in nothern parts of the country with brighter conditions taking over in the south-west.
Snow may drift in the north leading to difficult driving conditions. Ice is already affecting roads all over the country.
Christmas Day will be extremely cold, but temperatures will not be as low as initially thought. Initial predictions of -21°C (-6°F) have been revised upwards, with most inhabited parts seeing between -10°C and -2°C (28-14°F).
Clear, calm conditions in Greater Reykjavik are expected to help temperatures fall especially there.
