White Christmas this year?

Iceland can certainly expect a white Christmas this year if current long-term whether forecasts turn out to be correct.

After a brief period above freezing, temperatures will fall again in the coming days and remain below 0°C right through to Christmas. Current forecasts suggest that snow will begin to fall in both Akureyri and Reykjavik on Christmas Eve.

Despite the festive season, the weather may still have a sting in its tail, with stormy conditions expected to affect northern and north-western parts of the country tomorrow.

Strong winds and snowfall may make driving conditions difficult from midnight tonight, particulary in the West Fjords region.
