Latvian flag carrier airBaltic has announced its intention to join the ever-growing number of airlines operating to Iceland, with a new direct flight from Riga starting 28 May.

According to Icelandic aviation news website Allt um flug, the airline will operate a twice-weekly service from the Latvian capital, using Boeing 737-300 aircraft (link in Icelandic).

One-way fares start at ISK 19,600 (approx. €140) and the direct flight takes just over four hours.

This is a wonderful opportunity to visit Reykjavik, one of the most wonderful Nordic cities, and for Icelanders to visit the Baltic states, says Wolfgang Reuss of airBaltic.

The airline offers passengers from Iceland onward connections through Riga to sixty destinations in Europe, the Middle East and Russia.
