3.2 quake in Langökull glacier
Geitlandsjökull glacier, part of the larger Langjökull glacier in Iceland’s west highlands, was hit by a magnitude 3.2 tremor at 9:37 am this morning.
The quake was powerful enough to be felt over 70 km away in the town of Hvanneyri in West Iceland.
According to the Icelandic Met Office, quakes are relatively common in Geitlandsjökull and over ten tremors have been recorded in the area since 9 am today.
