Calmer and colder weather on the way
As the storm system which battered Iceland on Monday moves west to Greenland, forecasters predict calmer conditions – but falling temperatures – for most parts of the country.
Minimum temperatures in the East Iceland town of Egilsstaðir, for instance, are set to fall to -13°C (8.6°F) by Saturday, and in the capital Reykjavik to -14°C (6.8°F).
Winds will gradually die down over the next few days, although some snow storms are possible in northern parts.
Elsewhere the sun will be making a welcome appearance, although the combination of clear skies and calm winds will send temperatures plummeting.
