Flight disruption expected today

All domestic flights scheduled to depart after 10:30 this morning have been cancelled due to the severe weather system forecast to hit Iceland later today.
Both Air Iceland and Eagle Air managed to get their early-morning flight off on scheduled this morning, but operations will halt in just under an hour. Passengers are advised to check the airlines’ websites for more information.
International airlines Icelandair and WOW air are reportedly doing everything in their power to safeguard scheduled flights to destinations abroad.
Latest forecasts suggest that the severe weather will not hit the Reykjavik area until 5 pm, hopefully enabling returning flights from mainland Europe and departing flights to the UK and USA to operate as scheduled.
Passengers are advised to check the airlines’ websites and the website of Keflavík Airport for more information, and are reminded that while flights may continue to operate driving conditions on the road to the airport may become treacherous as the day wears on.
