Akureyri-Copenhagen service next summer?
Tour operator Trans-Atlantic and Estonian airline Estonian Air have signed a declaration of intent to begin a new weekly direct flight between Akureyri, North Iceland, and Copenhagen, Denmark.
A final decision is expected to be taken towards the end of the year, on the basis of demand for the service.
According to CEO of Trans-Atlantic, Egill Örn Arnarson Hansen, this project has been long in the making and success will depend on travel agencies securing enough demand for the Akureyri-Copenhagen route.
Should the route go ahead, Estonian Air will fly the route from May to September 2016, using CRJ900 aircraft. The service could be increased to a twice-weekly run if demand is there.
Arnarson Hansen estimates that the total price, including all taxes and fees, will be ISK 60-70,000 (approx. €415-485).
