Tour operator Gray Line has announced the commencement of direct coach services between Akureyri in North Iceland and Keflavík International Airport (KEF).

The new service will begin next spring, with a thrice-weekly run in April and May, then daily throughout the summer till mid-September.

The coach will leave the airport at 5pm and get passengers to ‘the Capital of the North’ by around 11pm. The return journey leaves Akureyri at 11:15pm and arrives at KEF at 5:15am, in time for the morning flights.

The service will stop at Borgarnes, Staðarskáli, Blönduós and Varmahlíð. The one-way fare between KEF and Akureyri is ISK 11,000 (approx. €76).

According to Gray Line Director of Sales and Marketing Þór Garðarson, the company hopes that the advent of this service will encourage visitors to Iceland to spend more time in the country.
