Highlands roads off limits!

Highland roads opened very late this summer due to heavy snows this winter and some are still closed. In an announcement from the Icelandic Road Administration it states that the roads are not only closed, but that driving on them is strictly forbidden. 

Driving by car through some of these roads will be causing damage to both the fragile environment and to the roads themselves.
