Beached whale in SW Iceland
A beached whale in Vogar, south-west Iceland. Ljósmynd/Ásgeir
A dead whale has been found washed up on the beach in the Vogar area of the Reykjanes peninsula, between Reykjavik and Keflavík.
According to the mayor of Vogar, Ásgeir Eiríksson, the whale most likely died at sea and then washed up on the shore.
Experts have identified the animal, which measures 6-7 m, as a young minke whale.
The whale is some 6-7 m long.
