Lufthansa Icelandic flights popular
Germany’s largest airline, Lufthansa, will be commencing new routes to Iceland this spring.
According to the turisti.is website, Lufthansa intends to operate new services to Reykjavik (KEF) from Frankfurt and Munich. The airline operated scheduled services to Iceland last year from Dusseldorf, Hamburg and Berlin, but these have since been taken over by its subsidiary, German Wings.
Healthy sales
To begin with, there will be three flights a week from Frankfurt and a Sunday flight from Munich throughout the summer season. The intention, however, is to operate the routes all year round.
Sales for these new routes are apparently looking good. A Lufthansa spokesperson told turisti.is that many flights are already three-quarters full, with most passengers hailing from Germany, France and Israel.
